A 22,000 square-foot, two-story addition to historic Milwaukee Public School facility. C-shaped addition connects back to existing building at two locations, creating new enclosed, exterior courtyard. The new addition provides new classroom and gymnasium space, as well as accessibility connections for the existing building. New construction consists of steel framing at the roof on load-bearing CMU walls. The floor construction is precast plank. The exterior facade is highly articulated brick to match the historic structure while at the interior courtyard, curtainwall framing opens the new space onto the courtyard.
